Eden Social Care is now recruiting an experienced and compassionate Social Care Leader for our residential centre in Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny. This new and innovative centre provides high-quality, trauma-informed care for young people seeking international protection.

We’re Hiring:

Social Care Leader (Full-time position)

About the Role:

As a Social Care Leader, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality services and fostering a safe, nurturing environment. Working closely with the Social Care Manager and Deputy Manager, you will:

  • Lead the care team during shifts
  • Mentor and support Social Care Workers and Support Workers
  • Ensure safe, effective, and child-centred practice
  • Help shape care provision in a developing service
  • You’ll be essential in driving a supportive and therapeutic culture, advocating for the rights of young people, and promoting their overall wellbeing.

Role Details:

Location: Kilkenny
Contract Type: Full-time
Work Schedule: Day Shifts & 24-Hour Shifts (including weekends and bank holidays)
Salary Range: €42,000 – €46,000 (Depending on Experience)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead shifts and support daily operations of the centre
  • Guide and supervise staff in care delivery
  • Conduct and oversee assessments and Placement Plans
  • Manage documentation and case files
  • Advocate for children’s rights, welfare, and participation
  • Promote school, training, and healthcare attendance
  • Liaise with families and external professionals
  • Encourage age-appropriate activities and outings
  • Facilitate team meetings and professional development
  • Promote a culture of whistleblowing and transparency
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with GDPR
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures as a Mandated Person
  • Ensure compliance with HIQA National Standards
  • Drive quality improvement and contribute to policy development

Essential Requirements – Social Care Leader:

Education:

  • Minimum Level 7 qualification in Social Care or equivalent, eligible for CORU registration
  • Relevant qualifications include: Social Care Work, Psychology, Youth & Community Work, Social Work, Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy, Applied Behaviour Analysis, Disability Studies, etc.
  • OR hold CORU registration as a Social Care Worker with another qualification

Experience:

  • At least 2 years full-time experience working directly with children/young people in residential care at Social Care Worker level or above

CORU Registration:

  • Must have applied for, be currently registered with, or be eligible for registration with CORU (evidence required)
  • Additional Requirements:
  • Full, clean manual driving licence valid in Ireland
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication
  • Strong understanding of effective teamwork
  • Working knowledge of HIQA National Standards for Children’s Residential Centres
