Organisation Overview
At KCCYP our aim is to empower young people through personal development, confidence and social skills building, to help them develop their sense of self-worth and respect, which in turn will benefit themselves, their families and our wider community.
KCCYP work in partnership with local young people, the majority of whom are not engaged elsewhere, to develop programmes and activities that are fully young person centered. All our engagement with young people is based on their active, voluntary participation and focuses on building relationships and trust between the youth workers and young people in an environment of equality and mutual respect. Through this partnership we support all our young people to reach their full potential in life and to be better equipped to tackle the challenges they face in society.
Role & Responsibilities
The Youth Workers are responsible for the running of open-door, age-appropriate Drop-In services available 5 days a week, Developmental Group Work, School Holiday Projects and Off-site Trips, One to One Support and Outreach Work. A large part of the work in this position will take place during late evenings, over some weekends and during school holidays and involves the development of new programmes to engage UBU target groups.
- To identify, engage and support the needs of targeted young people aged 10-24
- To develop and deliver planned programmes to our 5 UBU target groups.
- To engage in a minimum of 70% direct work with young people
- To participate in interagency and collaborative work with other relevant youth services
- To provide reports to both the BOM and the UBU funding scheme
- To act as an advocate for young people & KCCYP
Essential Requirements
- A formal qualification in Youth & Community Studies or a relevant field is essential.
- Candidates must have at least 2 years direct paid work experience with young people.
- An understanding of NQSF and NYS outcomes is desirable.
Contract
Full-time Contract is based on a one-year period initially, subject to a 6-month probation period. Salary: CDYSB Youth Worker Rates based on relevant experience. This position is subject to Garda Vetting.
