Job Title: Senior Physiotherapist – Cavan Area

Location: MS Ireland - North East Regional Office, Enterprise Centre Unit 9, Dublin Road, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, A75WF72 and HSE Physiotherapy department at IWA Rathcorrick H12 W667

Role purpose: The main purpose of this position is to design, deliver and evaluate the physiotherapy programmes for people with MS and other neurological conditions under the umbrella of “Active Neuro”

Reports to: Exercise and Physiotherapy Coordinator

Contract Type: Specific Purpose fixed-term contract for one year (with potential for extension)

Hours: 7 hours per week

Key Duties to Include:

  1. To enable PwMS to optimise their full potential through group and individual, online and in person, physiotherapy treatment and management programmes. This may also involve families, formal and informal carers and physiotherapy assistants.
  2. Work within the CORU Physiotherapy Code of Professional Conduct and ethics.
  3. Maintain and improve standards of practise through participation in continuing professional development opportunities within and outside MS Ireland.
  4. Ensure that a high standard of physiotherapy assessment and treatment is provided for all patients under his/her care.
  5. Liaise with relevant HSE clinical staff, staff of MS Ireland, other professionals and other stakeholders to ensure that effective communication and reporting takes place at all times.
  6. Maintain adequate records and case notes, using MS Irelands Salesforce system for all records
  7. Work within statutory health and safety guidelines and within the health and safety policies of MS Ireland to ensure a safe working environment for patients and staff at all times.
  8. Carry out clinical audit of the physiotherapy service and provide reports where required.
  9. Undertake other responsibilities as are consistent with the nature of the work in the post including programmes of research and development as appropriate.
  10. Adhere to budgetary requirements.
  11. Other duties as assigned by Manager.

Person Specification

Experience and Educational Requirements:

  1. Candidates must provide evidence of registration on the CORU Physiotherapy register
  2. A minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience is essential, which must include a minimum of 1 year experience in neurology.
  3. Experience running group programmes and or tele-health is highly desirable

Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Candidates will be client focused with excellent interpersonal skills.
  2. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  3. Proficient IT skills.
  4. Have use of own car and possess a full clean driver’s license.
  5. Possess and understanding and knowledge of the ethos and operation of MS Ireland.
  6. Ability to demonstrate respect and empathy for clients and their carers and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  7. Ability to work on one’s own initiative, set goals and implement programmes to achieve set targets.
  8. Working knowledge of person-centred care and case management systems.
