Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) has earned its reputation as the leading higher education provider in the North East through its first-class teaching and learning, research and engagement. Set in a state-of-the-art 35 hectare campus, DkIT provides quality learning and teaching to circa 5,300 students across four Schools in Business and Humanities, Engineering, Health and Science, and Informatics and Creative Arts in undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from Level 6 to PhD level, in addition to its long history in apprenticeships.
School of Business and Humanities
The School of Business and Humanities is the largest of the four Schools at DkIT. It currently encompasses four Departments including the Department of Business Studies, the Department of Management and Financial Studies, the Department of Humanities and the Department of Hospitality Studies. Students enrolled in the School are undertaking studies from NFQ Level 6 to 10.
The Post:
The School of Business and Humanities wishes to recruit Assistant Lecturers in Youth Work (Part-time) to join the lecturing team for the delivery of the new BA (Hons) in Applied Youth Work programme. The role will involve delivering lectures to students and the supervision of the student professional placement elements of the programme.
Candidates must:
- Hold an undergraduate degree in youth work, or cognate discipline
- Hold a relevant postgraduate award with three years’ experience post qualification
- Be NSETS endorsed
- A minimum of two year’s lecturing experience at third level in Youth Work is desirable
- Ideally candidates will be familiar with Youth Work practice in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
As an Assistant Lecturer, duties include but are not limited to:
- Delivery of Lectures and tutorial support including assessment.
- Administration supervision.
- Practice supervision.
- Maintaining sector engagement.
Remuneration:
Remuneration will be paid at the appropriate hourly rate which currently is €66.34 (Assistant Lecturer Part-time less 10% if commenced from 2011 onwards), and as approved by the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science.
