Exciting Opportunity: Join Our Team as a Community Food and Nutrition Worker!
For individuals with a profound dedication to community empowerment and the enhancement of health and well-being, Knockanrawley Resource Centre, centrally located in Tipperary town and deeply committed to collaboration with individuals, families, and the wider community, is currently in search of a dynamic Community Food and Nutrition Worker to make a substantial contribution to the Sláintecare initiative.
Responsibilities:
- Drive community health improvements in designated Tipperary Town and environs by addressing poor diet and food poverty.
- Build capacity, knowledge, and skills across communities to enhance the food environment and activate national campaigns.
- Develop health awareness and empower individuals, groups, and organizations to make healthy food choices.
- Collaborate with statutory and community organizations to implement evidence-based responses for improving the food environment and reducing health inequalities.
- Support the delivery of workshops and community programs focused on Healthy Food for Life guidelines.
- Coordinate the activation of national campaigns addressing healthy lifestyles in local communities.
Requirements:
- Minimum third-level qualification in Nutrition and Health (see specific requirement below)
- Three years' experience in health promotion or health behaviour change.
- Proven ability to build relationships across various organisations.
- Knowledge and experience in reducing health inequalities.
- Understanding of wider determinants of health.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to delivering a high-quality service.
Please note: only one of the following degrees will qualify for the role:
Essential:
- Minimum Level 8 Qualification in Health & Nutrition as below;
- BSc Hons Nutrition and Health Science
- BSc Hons Public Health Nutrition
- BSc Hons Human Nutrition
- BSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics
- MSc in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics
- MSc Human Nutrition and Dietetics
Desirable:
- Fluent in the Irish language
Additional Requirements:
- Full driving license and own transport.
- A positive attitude and ability to work autonomously on your own initiative.
Contract: Initial one-year fixed-term contract, with potential for extension based on funding.
