Family Support Project Worker
Blakestown and Mountview Neighbourhood Youth Project (NYP) is a specialised, community-based youth project working with vulnerable 8– 14 year olds and their families. The project provides developmental programmes and supports; nurturing and empowering all who engage to reach their full potential.
The Family Support Project Worker will work with children, young people and families referred to NYP through a series of targeted individual, group programmes and interventions.
The successful candidate should have the following:
Essential Requirements
- A recognised third level qualification in social care/youth work/family support or related discipline
- Experience of working with young people and families, preferably in a community based setting
- Knowledge, empathy and understanding of social exclusion and its impact on individuals and families in the wider community
Skills/Attributes
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Good leadership, facilitation and group work skills
- Knowledge and understanding of programme planning and delivery in line with funding requirements
- Knowledge of evidence based programmes e.g. drugs education prevention, parenting, family support
- Ability to understand and maintain professional boundaries
- Ability to plan, implement and evaluate programmes based on emerging needs
- Excellent administration, time management and report writing skills
- Excellent IT skills including Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook
- Excellent team work experience
Flexible working hours as evening work is required
