We have an exciting new opportunity for a:
Social Care Worker
To provide a bespoke Day Service programme to one individual within a residential setting
POSITION AVAILABLE:
Permanent Full-time (39 hrs/week Monday to Friday)

You are familiar with best practices in Social Care and apply these consistently in your work.
We are:
St. Catherine’s Association is a non-profit organisation and registered charity funded by the HSE that provides health related supports to children and young adults with moderate to profound intellectual disabilities and autism in the Wicklow area. These services include Respite and Short Break Support Services, Adult Day Services and Residential Services and access to clinical supports through referral to Children’s Disability Network Team.
Job Role:
- To support an individual through the provision of a bespoke day service within the persons residential home
- To provide opportunities for the individual to develop and grow through a range of different aspects of their life
- Assist in the development of an individual personal plan to ensure the delivery of effective, high quality services
- Assist with personal care needs and any other individual needs that may arise, including the administration of medication, working in accordance with SCA policies and procedures.
- Encourage independence through choosing and pursuing their own interests
- Facilitate enjoyable activities to foster confidence and encourage creativity
- To assist in the teaching of life skills, cooking, budgeting etc.
- To actively seek new interests and opportunities for this person to develop meaningful roles in their community
- Actively participate in appropriate, educational, recreational and occupational programmes
- Facilitate and implement a person centred service appropriate to the needs, wishes and requirements of the individual
- Promote and safeguard the well-being and interests of the individual at all times and to adhere to SCA policies and procedures around same.
- Showcase the potential and creativity of adults with intellectual disabilities
- Reports to: Adult Day Service Manager
Essential:
- Social Care Worker QQI Level 7 in Social Care, Social Studies or equivalent
- Experience in working with individuals who have Intellectual Disabilities and Autism
- Person-centred approach
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work on own initiative
- Flexibility and reliability
- Knowledge of New Directions Regulations and National Standards for persons with disabilities
- Experience supporting individuals with behaviours that challenge and experience in the use of Safety Intervention protocols
- Full driving license and willing to drive company vehicles
