Full Time Permanent Social Care Worker Riverview

Applications are sought for a Social Care Worker position in Riverview Children’s Residential Centre.

Riverview is a project of Good Shepherd Cork.

Riverview provides accommodation and support for young girls (15-19 years) who are out of home or transitioning from another care settings.

The successful candidate will care for, protect and support our young people in conjunction with the wider staff team, family and other professionals involved. They will work from a child-centered approach and contribute to the planning and evaluation of individualised care plans.

Within the residential centre the Social Care Worker will work as part of a team to provide a caring, warm and safe environment for young people. The aim is to provide the interventions and support necessary to address the issues that are preventing them from living at home, in an alternative care setting or independently in the community.

This position will involve working 39 hrs per week. Flexibility will be required around working hours which will incorporate both weekday and weekend shifts as well as sleepover shifts.

Essential Requirements:

  • Recognised professional qualification in social care.
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people.
  • Professional and caring approach to working with vulnerable young girls.

The candidate should be compassionate and highly motivated. They should possess the interpersonal and communication skills necessary to establish a trusting relationship with the young people.

The successful candidate will be committed to the ethos and mission of Good Shepherd Cork and will be expected to ensure that all aspects of practice in Riverview are informed by the ethos and mission.
