Project Worker: Young Person and Family Support

Candle Community Trust welcomes applications for the Project Worker (Young Person and Family Support). This position is in collaboration with TUSLA and works specifically with young people who are known to the Child and Family Agency. This exciting role will work with young people, their parents/guardians and families referred to the Candle Service on a 1:1 basis. The role will support engagement and participation through home visits, individual support, advocacy and developmental programming with both the young person and their family. The role is also supported by and works with the diverse range of services within the Candle centre.

Candle Community Trust, established in 1978, is a registered charity providing educational, developmental and therapeutic opportunities for “at risk” youth in Ballyfermot, Dublin 10. Working in collaboration with the Probation Service, CDETB, CDYSB, TUSLA and HSE, Candle is committed to creating and delivering a comprehensive, best practice service to meet the needs of young people who experience disadvantage and marginalization.

Requirements:

  • A third level degree, QQI level 8 or equivalent in the fields of social work, social care, humanities, or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with vulnerable and at-risk young people and their families
  • An understanding of the issues affecting marginalised youth and families, and dedication to being a positive advocate for same
  • The ability to work effectively with identified young people and their families experiencing significant trauma and complexity
  • Experience of planning and delivering creative and innovative developmental programmes
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility, and can-do attitude
  • Full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes

Please note that this position will include evening work and occasional weekend work.
