Finglas Youth Resource Centre / Sphere 17 / Ballymun Regional Youth Resource: Co-ordinator - OUT Advocacy Project
The Finglas Youth Resource Centre, in collaboration with Sphere 17 Regional Youth Service and Ballymun Regional Youth Resource have been awarded funding through DCEDIY and Pobal to establish a new cross community project. This initiative is specifically aimed at supporting and enhancing the provision of youth work, support and advocacy for LGBT+ youth in the Finglas, Ballymun and Dublin 17 / Kilbarrack areas.
The O.U.T (Opening Up Together) Advocacy Project seeks to provide LGBTI+ young people in the Dublin north area with a safe and inclusive environment where they can express themselves, seek support, and build community. The programme’s objectives are:
- Enhance accessibility to inclusive youth spaces
- Empower LGBT+ youth through education and skill building
- Promote mental and emotional wellbeing
- Foster inclusion and representation in community spaces
- Build a sustainable support network
- Establish a lasting impact within youth service providers
We are currently seeking to recruit a Co-ordinator for the OUT advocacy project (28 hours weekly).
Fixed term contract, expiry on the 31st December 2025
This position involves enhancing the delivery of a diverse and inclusive array of youth programmes tailored to the needs of LGBT+ youth. You will be required to engage in direct work with young people, utilising centre-based and outreach youth work methodologies, and facilitate the active engagement and participation of young people in the ongoing planning, implementation, and evaluation of the project.
As stated, this is a cross community initiative so you will be required to work across the three service areas. The work will be delivered through structured youth work programmes that meet the developmental needs of young people identified by the project. The successful candidate will be required to work various shifts including evening, night, and weekend work. This post is funded through the LGBTI+ youth fund administered through DCEDIY and Pobal.
Essential Qualification:
- An * NSETS recognised professionally endorsed qualification in Youth Work or Youth and Community Work (*NSETS: North/South Education and Training Standards Community for Youth Work.)
Or - Have worked with young people for two years full time in a youth setting and have an equivalent professional Degree level qualification within the Education/Social Science/Youth Work or Community development field.
Salary: ETB Department of Education Youth Worker scale applies (based on experience)

While this is a joint project between the FYRC, BRYR and Sphere 17, the FYRC is the lead project and as such will be the employer.
Appointment will be subject to FYRC CLG receiving satisfactory Garda Vetting and reference checks.
Shortlisting will apply and a panel will be formed for our relief panel and future appointments.
