Location: Bishop Street, Limerick City

Contract: Permanent and Full-time (37 hours per week)

Salary (Depending on Experience): €55,658-€72,614 D.O.E.

Limerick City Homemaker Family Support Service –
Barnardos & Limerick City Children’s Services Committee (CSC)

What does our service do?

Limerick City Early Intervention and Homemaker Family Support Service is a service managed and delivered by Barnardos, funded by Limerick ABC Start Rite, Limerick City and Council Social Interventions fund, TUSLA, Limerick CYPSC and Barnardos.

It is a home-based family support service, which emphasises working with parents to support them in their parenting capacity and household routines. It is an early intervention; outcomes focused Programme that works with families with additional needs (Levels 2-3 on the Hardiker Model).

The service also provides groupwork in school settings including Early Bird and offers a full range of services to migrant families.

Where do we work?

Limerick City Homemaker Family Support Service works with parents primarily in their homes across Limerick City and County. The administrative base for the team is at Barnardos, Saint Mary’s National School, Bishop Street, Limerick.

Who do we work with?

The Service works directly with parents in a child and outcomes focused approach. The approach upholds community development and family support principles, working in partnership with parents to enhance their capacity to support and care for their children.

An interagency approach is key to successful outcomes for families engaged with the service.

Job purpose

To ensure the development, management, delivery and review of Barnardos services within your area of responsibility, within the strategic direction of Barnardos and to participate in the overall development of the region and organisation.

Experience

  • A minimum of five years’ post-qualification experience and demonstrable competencies in terms of management ability essential. Prior management experience highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Relevant professional 3rd level qualification essential, for example: Social Work, Social Care, Child Care, Education, Youth and Community Work, Psychology or equivalent. Management training highly desirable.
