Dundalk CTC provides vocational training and education programmes to meet the needs of young people aged 16 – 21 from the local area who have left mainstream school early. Programmes have been designed to enhance each learner’s potential to learn new skills and achieve relevant certification necessary for progression into employment, further training or continued education. This role demands flexibility in responding to learner needs through the provision of a variety of flexible training options which ultimately supports their move into the workplace or another learning environment.
The Board of Management invites applications from enthusiastic & self-motivated individuals for the position of:
Construction / Carpentry Instructor
(22 hrs per week – 3.5 Days) Permanent Position
Applicants should possess:
- A formal Qualification in the Subject Matter or related area of Engineering /Construction / Carpentry
- A recognised qualification in Training & Education or similar
- Minimum of 3 -5 years’ experience of working with young people
- The ability to integrate locally devised assessments with Literacy and Numeracy Development & other Pedagogical Skills & approaches.
- Have sound knowledge of a range of trades and curriculum of multi skills awareness
- Proven ability to deliver training on Health & Safety aspects of trade skills
- Knowledge and proven experience delivering a range of QQI level 3 & 4 modules.
- Strong administration, communication, presentation and a proficiency in IT Skills
- A knowledge of QQI and the National Framework of Qualifications
- The ability to work effectively with Staff, Learners, External Partners, Employers & others as appropriate to support learner progression & development
- Creativity to design & deliver flexible training options
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Developing, delivering, assessing, and monitoring of learner coursework to QQI level standards
- Provision of supports to learners including active participation in case conference and key-working and one-to-one support work
- Supervise and support students ensuring their safety and access to learning
- Use specialist knowledge and experience to support students to learn in line with their individual learning plans or targets
- Provide feedback to students in relation to progress, achievement, behaviour and attendance
- Encourage students to interact and work cooperatively and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance
- Maintain class and learner records and provide reports as required
- Assisting with the planning, development, and implementation of CTC services within the Training Standards and Quality Assurance Systems.
Dundalk CTC offers an excellent package including contributory pension, leave and training opportunities for the successful candidate. Salary scale €33,254 - €59,330 Pro rata. This post is subject to successful Garda Vetting clearance and receipt of satisfactory references/qualification check prior to appointment.
