Your Role as a Project Worker in the Cork County Housing First Service
Cork Simon Community is currently seeking motivated and compassionate individuals to join our team as a Project Worker in the Cork County Housing First Service. In this vital role you will support people who are sleeping rough and/or experiencing long-term and multiple exclusion homelessness to move into secure, permanent housing at the earliest opportunity, without preconditions for sobriety or treatment compliance.
This is an incredibly rewarding role that allows for continued learning and professional development, guided by Cork Simon’s values and best practice care models such as Trauma-Informed Practice and various treatment models.
Some Key Responsibilities:
- Making contact: Work collectively with colleagues in homeless services, the Local Authority, HSE and other agencies to identify, prioritise, establish and maintain contact with people in Cork who are sleeping rough and/or experiencing long-term and multiple exclusion homelessness.
- Housing Assessment, Access & Allocation: Assess the urgency of the person’s housing need by use of agreed tools for prioritisation consisting of the Cork Kerry Key work, care planning and case management protocols.
- Key Working, Support Plans and Intensive Case Management: Work with each service user / tenant and with colleagues within the Cork County Housing First Team to identify areas for support.
- Addressing problems and tenancy breakdown: Ensure tenants know their rights and responsibilities, work closely with all stakeholders to address any issues.
- Induction to Accommodation: Ensure tenant is introduced features/systems of the property, assist with gaining familiarity of the local area.
- Accommodation: Support tenants in maintaining positive relationships with landlords and neighbours.
- Team Work: Work as part of a team to reach the overall objectives of the Cork County Housing First service, while managing own caseload.
- Professional Development and Performance Monitoring: Engage in supervision, professional development, and performance monitoring through key indicators such as effective communication, teamwork, and positive client outcomes.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Experience: Relevant experience working with marginalized groups, especially people experiencing homelessness or addiction, and case management experience.
- Knowledge: Understanding of Housing Assistance Structures and Housing First ethos.
- Skills: Strong case management, listening, advocacy, record-keeping, organisational and report-writing skills.
- Qualifications: Relevant third-level qualification in a relevant field.
- Full clean driving license, and access to a car.
