Bridgeways Family Resource Centre: Family Support / Community Development Worker
Bridgeways FRC aims to improve people's lives by supporting them to become active agents in their own lives. Bridgeways conducts a myriad of family support, community development and youth work based programmes. The work is underpinned with the principles of community development- equality, equity, participation and empowerment.
This work is carried out with all members of the community in Ballymahon, Co. Longford and the surrounding areas.
We are now recruiting for the following position:
Family Support / Community Development Worker
(35 hours per week)
To support and work in close collaboration with the Voluntary Management Committee and the Project Coordinator to implement the Resource Centre’s aims and objectives as specified in the work & the 5 year strategic plan.
The ideal candidate should have the following:
- A qualification (Minimum Level 7) in Community Development / Family Support or a relevant discipline;
- At least 2 years paid experience of Community Development / Family Support work or relevant work;
- A good understanding of Family Support work in a community based setting;
- The ability to liaise with voluntary, community and statutory agencies;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, leadership and facilitation skills and evaluation and report writing skills;
- Good IT and Social Media skills;
- A full clean driver’s license and access to transport is essential;
- Knowledge and understanding of the trauma, issues of poverty and social exclusion and its impact on the local area;
- Demonstrate a strong teamwork ethic and the ability to work on own initiative;
- Flexibility will be required.
