Deputy House Leader

L’Arche Cork invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Deputy House Leader.

L’Arche is an international organisation based in many countries around the world building community with adults who have an intellectual disability. Our aim is to recognise the value of each person and enable them to grow and develop as individuals.

L’Arche Cork is recruiting for the position of Deputy House Leader in our one of our houses. This role involves assisting to lead a team of assistants in order to provide a warm and friendly home environment for the residents. The candidate who is successful in filling the position will be a good communicator and will have a warm and friendly disposition. Good organisational and written skills are also essential aspects of the role.

The position of Deputy House Leader will be full-time and will include some evenings and weekends.

Location: Le Cheile, Togher Road, Cork
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Working hours: 39 per week

Requirements for the role include the following:

• Candidates must have a relevant professional qualification in intellectual disability nursing or Social Care.
• Knowledge and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience of working with people with an intellectual disability and managing people’s well-being using an evidence based approach to person centred planning
• A good understanding of HIQA requirements
• The person filling this role will demonstrate a clear commitment to community integration and active citizenship for all people with disabilities
• A full clean driving license is essential.

A suitable candidate for this role must show that they have effectively worked with a team and have leadership ability.
