Tenancy Support and Housing Officer

We wish to recruit a Tenancy Support and Housing Officer, our aim is to support our tenants, to live their best possible lives through unconditional support, an unwavering commitment to them and to their welfare. This post is tenant and property focused and will require a professional with an absolute commitment to the Values of Galtan CLG, with the highest professional standards, exceptional teamwork and willingness to innovate.

About the Organisation

Galtan CLG provides long term independent housing in Cork City for people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. It is an AHB, Tier 2, member of ICSH and is a registered charity, established in 2007. It is a zero-profile company; the reason for this is to give anonymity to Galtan’s tenants and to prevent “labelling” tenants or properties.

Role

  • To support tenancies and ensure property standards and management as part of the core Galtan team that ensures Tenant wellbeing, tenancy support and property standards.
  • Work with tenants to ensure their tenancy is sustainable through support, partnership and imagination.

Qualifications and Experience

The appropriate candidate will have:

  • Level 7 professional Qualification in Social Care, Youth and Community Work or related Social Science discipline.
  • Experience in working with vulnerable families, homeless people or other vulnerable groups.
  • Administration skills for record keeping and report writing and computer literacy.
  • Full clean driving license and use of own car.
  • Ability to provide services that foster and enhance the dignity, development and independence of the individual.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people.

It would be an advantage for the candidate to have:

  • Experience and knowledge of working in two or more of the following areas: Family Support, Tenancy Sustainment, Residential Care, Mental Health, Challenging Behaviour or Substance Misuse.
  • Knowledge of statutory and voluntary social care services, RTB and housing management and systems.
  • Experience and knowledge in child protection and associated legislation and guidelines.
  • Housing / Tenancy management qualification
