Company Overview:

Finglas Addiction Support Team (FAST) has provided services in the community of Finglas since 2004. FAST provides a range of programmes and supports ranging from harm reduction and crisis intervention through to structured rehabilitation and aftercare programmes for individuals and family members affected by drug and alcohol use. FAST has recently expanded into Cabra and operates there as Cabra Alcohol and Drug Service (CADS)

Internship Programme:

  • We have an exciting opportunity for someone who would like to progress their career in the drug/alcohol services.
  • We are running a 12-month internship programme for two full time Trainee Project Workers where you will gain valuable on the job work experience across our services in Finglas and Cabra, and professional development training in evidence-based interventions.

What you can expect:

  • Trainees will engage in a structured one year training programme which will include induction, sector specific training and on the job work experience. They will also receive regular support and supervision from their line manager.
  • Trainees will work across both FAST and CADS teams gaining experience in a variety of different service areas including outreach, in-house programmes, initial assessments, and group work.

Application Criteria:

  • Must either be enrolled on or awaiting an offer for a relevant level 7 diploma qualification (social care, peer mentoring, community addiction studies).
  • Relevant previous work experience.
  • Experience of group work/group process is desirable.
  • Have some knowledge of drug related issues and the complexities of delivering drug and alcohol services.
  • Knowledge of different drug/alcohol interventions.
  • Respect for the mission, values, ethos of FAST.
  • Flexibility in terms of working hours – the post holder will be required to provide some evening hours where necessary and appropriate.
  • Garda vetting will apply
