Is currently seeking to appoint a

Community Development Worker

(18 – 22.5 per week, Salary €37,145 pro rata)

The overall purpose of the job is to:

  • To work with individuals and families on a one-to-one basis, supporting them to improve their physical and mental wellbeing, and assist them to make positive lifestyle changes.
  • To deliver all aspect of the work plan to which are assigned to you, this may include day to day operations and support of volunteers.
  • To build relationships with other services and initiatives in order to know what they offer. To bring back and share this information to other staff working in the Centre.
  • To promote and advertise ongoing services and activities the Centre provides, and to support people using the Centre to engage in ways that will improve their life circumstances.
  • To provide welfare rights and Information in conjunction with FRC staff linking clients into local support services. To be an advocate for clients when required.
  • To work with the Centre Manager to apply for grants for the Centre. All grants to be submitted to manager ahead of submission to relevant agencies

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in working directly with families, individuals and groups supporting them in a community development setting.
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to communication with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational skills, be self-motivation and able to work independently.
  • An understanding of a community development approach to working with individuals and families.
  • Experience of organising workshops, and facilitating groups
  • Experience of working with community organisation and statutory.
  • agencies Relevant QQI qualification in Community Development, equality studies or other relevant discipline.
  • Access to car and full clean driving license.
