IFI Project Worker (PW)

Part time Fixed Term Contract (18 months)

The Position & Role

This exciting new position involves delivery of Cross Border training programme to Parents in 4 schools in south Monaghan and south Armagh. 

The PW will be responsible for:

  • Identifying 4 primary schools to take part in the project, 1 from each community (protestant and catholic) on each side of the border and recruiting up to 20 core parents from these 4 schools to participate.
  • Providing access to other elements of the project to additional parents and the wider community in all 4 schools. These will include: online supports, portal, community events etc.
  • Providing parents in south Monaghan and south Armagh with accredited training to deliver future parenting programmes in the area.
  • Working with targeted (self-selecting) parents from the schools to establish Parent platforms with specific objectives. These will afford parents initially an opportunity to think collectively and jointly on key issues and barriers that affect them as parents.
  • Upskilling parents through parent platforms to enhance their parental capacity.
  • Holding a series of activity events convened throughout the lifetime of the project. These will be available to all members of the parent platforms and their children on a cross border basis and will bring school communities on either side of the border together socially.

Key project milestones include:

  • 4 or more promotional sessions, 1 in each school.
  • 12 information/café type sessions per month per school over the project lifetime
  • Establish a Parent Platform with at least 20 core parents and hold 24 events for these parents on a Cross Border Cross Community basis.
  • Hold 12 school wide events run on a Cross Border Cross Community basis.
  • Hold an end of project event to share learning and disseminate information to policy makers on both sides of the border.

The successful candidate should:

  • Have a relevant third level qualification and/or work experience in peacebuilding or a related field
  • Be self-motivated and possess the ability to motivate others
  • Possess excellent report writing, organisational and inter-personal skills (Facilitation skills would be an advantage)
  • Live on the island of Ireland and possess a car and full driving licence
