AT is currently recruiting a Part-Time Support Worker to assist a young man with disability to live an independent life.

Áiseanna Tacaíochta (ÁT) provides leadership and support to people with disabilities to live with the independence, choice and freedom they are entitled to. For the first time in Ireland, we facilitate Direct Payments to people with disabilities, enabling them to take control of their own budgets, their own services and, ultimately, their own lives.

The Support Worker is required to assist a young man with disability in his daily living at home and in the community, including attending different social events and activities. The successful candidate will receive training and development in line with the role. This role is suitable for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual who is committed to providing care and supporting someone to live an independent life in their community.

About the role:

Position: Part time Support Worker for 4 hour shifts.

Location: Dublin 7

The Support Worker is required to assist a young man with disability in his daily living at home and in the community, including attending different social events and activities. The successful candidate will receive training and development in line with the role.Depending on Qualifications €15 to €20 per hour

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To assist the young man on outings such as the gym, golf, football matches, use of public transport.
  • Providing direct support and facilitating positive environment
  • Developing and maintaining effective communication with the family and relevant others
  • To establish a positive and supportive relationship with the individual
  • Assist the young man in achieving her potential by listening, guiding and providing practical and emotional support
  • To promote the wellbeing, development and inclusion of the person within the community and the wider locality
  • To ensure and promote good communication among all supporting the person
  • To undertake other work that may be assigned from time to time.

Essential for the role:

  • Knowledge and experience of working with people with intellectual disability spectrum and/or vocational skills, training/mentoring/coaching.
  • An understanding of disability and Independent Living Movement.
  • Experience of working with families.
  • Full, clean driving license.
  • Legally permitted to work in Ireland
  • Garda Vetting will need to be completed upon recruitment
  • Ideally someone who is passionate about sports.
