Good Shepherd Cork: Resettlement Workers, Clonakilty Family Hub

Good Shepherd Cork provides a range of emergency accommodation and outreach services to women, children and families who are homeless or vulnerable to homelessness. We plan to open a new family hub service in Clonakilty for families who are homeless in Cork County. Applications are sought for Resettlement (Social Care) Workers for this service.

This position will involve working approximately 39 hrs per week (rota to be confirmed) and will involve shift work, requiring some evening, night, and weekend work.

Resettlement Workers will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of a welcoming, compassionate, and professional service for families staying in the hub.

Essential Requirements:

  • A recognised professional qualification in Social Care or an appropriate equivalent.
  • Experience working with families especially families experiencing homelessness.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Professional and caring approach to working with families who are vulnerable (adults, teenagers and children).

Roles & Responsibilities:

Reporting to the management team within the family hub, the candidate will:

  1. Develop and implement appropriate care plans and ensure these are adhered to.
  2. Assess housing and support needs using the Care and Case Management Assessment Tools and approach.
  3. Have an excellent knowledge and understanding of the Children’s First Guidelines for Child Protection and Safeguarding.
  4. Liaise with other individuals within Good Shepherd Cork and external agencies.
  5. Adhere to the policies and procedures within Good Shepherd Cork.
  6. Implement all organisational procedures and policies including Health & Safety and Child Protection guidelines.
  7. A genuine interest in the work of Good Shepherd Cork and commitment to our vision, mission and values.
  8. Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
