Woodale Youth Justice Project (YJP)
Youth Justice Worker
(Full-time – 35 hours per week)

Main Role:
The Woodale Youth Justice Worker is responsible for working with young people aged 10-17 years involved, or at risk of becoming involved in, criminal activity in the Priorswood and Darndale area. The Youth Justice Worker will work on the Woodale Youth Justice Project team and as part of the wider Sphere 17 team. Their purpose is to engage young people who have offended or at risk of offending in a process of learning and development that will enable them to examine their own offending and to make positive lifestyle choices to reduce their risk of involvement in criminal, harmful or socially unacceptable behaviour. S/he will be working closely with An Garda Síochána in assessing the interests, needs and capacity of this target group, and implement appropriate programmes and activities, as agreed with the Team Leader and the Woodale YJP Committee.
Salary scale for the above roles is commensurate with the Department of Education Youth Worker (€38,384-€56,447) and Youth Activity Worker (€38,218-€51,210) Salary Scales. These posts will require the successful candidate to work scheduled hours at evenings and weekends.

Appointment to the above pay-scales will reflect the level of required criteria met at point of entry as detailed below.
Required:
- Youth Worker: An *NSETS professionally endorsed qualification in Youth Work or Youth and Community Work,
Or, - Have worked with young people for two years full-time in a youth work setting and have an equivalent professional Degree level qualification within the Education/Social Science/Youth Work or Community Work field.
Required:
- Youth Activity Worker: A QQI Level 5 full Award in Youth Work or equivalent qualification in a related area plus experience of working with young people.
Or, - A minimum of 6 months full-time paid experience working directly with young people in a youth work setting.
