Residential Social Care Worker (Activity Therapist)

Galtee Clinic Ltd (www.galteeclinic.ie) is seeking to recruit a Social Care Worker (Full Time) and Social Care Worker (Maternity Leave Cover) to be part of our social pedagogically informed therapeutic community, working in a residential setting with children and young people. The Galtee Clinic has three registered children’s homes, all located nearby to the town of Mitchelstown, Co. Cork.
Role Specifics:
The role includes assisting the resident children and young people in the development and implementation of their care programs and occupational pursuits, supporting the young people’s development in both personal and social skills, to be actively involved in the day to day running of the homes and the farm including participation in cooking and domestic tasks, undertaking administrative tasks in connection with the daily recording of accurate and concise notes and reports in respect of the young people, attending team meetings, planning meetings and required training.
Competencies:
- Have a recognised qualification in Social Care, Social Pedagogy, Social Education or related discipline (minimum Level 7)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, an openness to discovering a new way of working, a sense of professionalism, an ability to form relationships with children and young people and be an active and positive participant in the functioning of the team.
- Full clean driving licence, valid in Ireland, is essential.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Irish Residential Care Standards
- Interest in active outdoor pursuits that engage young people
- Flexibility in your approach to working
- Ability to work effectively with team members and management

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, usually over 4 days throughout the week
