Family Support Worker

(Part time position 17.5 hours)

The person appointed will be based at STAR Project, Horizons Centre, Ballymun. The Ballymun Family Support Service is a part of the services that Star Project Ballymun provides and this role is funded by the HSE.

Purpose of role: To provide support to family members who are impacted by substance use and/or gambling issues within their family. The service provides both one to one support, group work, and onward referral.

The successful candidate should have,

• A recognised qualification in the field of addiction or related social studies/counselling or similar
• Two years working in a family support setting or similar related area
• Experience delivering evidence-based interventions to family members e.g. Five Step Method CRAFT, or similar programmes (does not have to be exactly the same).
• Excellent communication IT and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
• Some flexibility with working hours as evening hours may be involved.
• Ability to offer support and develop relationships with Family Members experiencing stress and strain caused by substance use.
• Experience Facilitating groups and of providing one to one support
