Candle Community Trust welcomes applications for the Project Worker position. This position is in collaboration with the Probation Service and works specifically with young people (14-20yrs) who are known to the Probation Service and Youth Justice Systems. This exciting role will work with young people on an intensive 1:1 basis to address offending behaviour through home visits, individual support, advocacy and developmental programming.

Candle Community Trust, established in 1978, is a registered charity providing educational, developmental and therapeutic opportunities for “at risk” youth in Ballyfermot, Dublin 10. Working in collaboration with the Probation Service, CDETB, CDYSB, TUSLA and HSE, Candle is committed to creating and delivering a comprehensive, best practice service to meet the needs of young people who experience disadvantage and marginalization.

Requirements:

  • A third level degree (or equivalent) in the fields of social work, social care, humanities, or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with vulnerable and at-risk young people/their families/carers and relevant professionals
  • Experience of working with young people on Probation and known to the criminal justice system
  • The ability to work effectively with identified young people and their families/carers experiencing significant trauma and complexity
  • Experience of working in structured and individualised settings with young people, delivering one to one intensive support to facilitate desistance from offending behaviour.
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility, and can-do attitude
  • Full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes

Please note that this position will include evening work and occasional weekend work.
