1x Full Time Community Youth Worker (UBU)

Bluebell Youth Project has always approached youth work from a community development perspective. It has insisted that addressing issues of inequality and exclusion in community and society is relevant and essential in the practice of youth work. Bluebell Youth Project supports young people to become creative agents of change in their own lives and empower them through needs based youth work responses.

The mission statement of Bluebell Youth Project:

Canal Communities Regional Youth Service is a community based youth service working with young people aged 10-24 years through informal education. “Our mission is to engage and involve young people from Bluebell and the Canal Communities to make a positive difference in their lives, their community and society. We endeavour to build safe, supportive, creative and educational spaces for young people to explore and develop together their own self-worth and identity”.

This full-time position is funded under the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth (DCEDIY) - UBU funding scheme through the City of Dublin Youth Services Board.

The ideal candidates will have a real commitment to the ethos and values of the project and fit one of the following two profile requirements:

• An *NSETS recognised professionally endorsed qualification in Youth Work or Youth and Community.
  or
• Have worked with young people for two years full time in a youth work setting and have a relevant professional Degree level qualification within the Education/Social Science/Youth Work or Community Work field.

In addition to the above the candidate will need to demonstrate a strong knowledge and understanding of youth work; have a proven track record of relevant experience and possess a range of practical skills and attributes suited to the needs and challenges of the Bluebell Youth Project as it currently operates.
