Project Worker – Limerick North
Location: Barnardos Family Support Service, Limerick North
Contract: Full-Time (37 hours per week) & Contract until Feb 2026
Salary: €34,213 - €52,883 Depending on Experience

What’s the Role and Service?
We are looking for an experienced Project Worker to join our team in our Limerick North Family Support Service. The primary purpose of this role is to develop and implement programmes that respond to the needs to the families and children referred to the service.
What will my day to day look like?
- Assessing the needs of the children and families who engage with our service using Barnardos Assessment framework and Meitheal
- Being vigilant for signs of any kind of abuse or neglect and reporting any concerns in relation to child welfare in accordance with Barnardos Child Protection Policy
- Key working with individual children and families, meeting their needs and advocating on their behalf
- Liaising with families, community, statutory and voluntary bodies and attending and contributing to reviews, case conferences and court as required
What experience do I need?
- A minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience of working with vulnerable children and families
- Experience of working in partnership with families and carers
- Experience of planning, implementing and reviewing programmes with children and/or families
Do I need a qualification?
Yes, to be considered for this role you will hold a recognised third level practice qualification (minimum Level 7 on the QQI) in one of the following:
- Early Childhood Care and Education / Social Care / Education / Social Work / Youth Work / or related discipline (Nursing, Psychology, Early Years’ Education).
Additional information:
A full driving licence and access to the use of a suitably insured car is essential.
The post-holder is initially assigned to work in the Limerick North service but may be required in the future to work in other project(s) in the Limerick area in line with Organisational needs.
