Social Care Practitioner – 1 Year Contract
St Ultans is an integrated campus that operates from a model of Care and Education for children and young people living in Cherry Orchard from infancy throughout their primary and secondary school cycle. Within the Campus there is a Nursery/Early Years’ Service, Primary School and Care Service operating from a child centered approach providing a wraparound service for the child in partnership with the child, parent or guardian.
The care service provide a nurturing environment using approaches that often focus on the four key aspects of child development in supporting their physical, cognitive, behavioral, social and emotional development this is delivered through various types of evidence informed and evidence based interventions.
The Role & Responsibilities of a Key Worker in St Ultans Care Service;
- Key Workers play a crucial role in arranging a comprehensive approach to a child’s development. This involves seamless collaboration with specialists from various disciplines and in some cases coordinating multidisciplinary therapies, community & statutory supports.
- Ensuring a nurturing and a holistic care & development progress is an essential approach in achieving a balanced development progress for the child.
- Goal Setting & Individualized plan, by using our model of care and education (ICE Plans) the key worker creates a customized care plan, focusing on the need and areas of development to ensure the intervention is beneficially and effective to the child’s development.
- Key Workers Advocate for the child ensuring their rights and needs are prioritized. This involves advocating for specific interventions based on the needs of child and or family.
- Crisis Intervention- to provide immediate emotional support, ensure safety and make a plan.
Conditions of Employment
- 30 days annual leave per annum
- 37.5 hours per week.
- Daily Hours 10.00 -5.30pm Monday- Friday.
- Salary based on experience.
- This position is conditional on satisfactory Garda Vetting Clearance.
Essential Criteria
- Professionally endorsed qualification in social care or equivalent in a similar field i.e., community youth work or child and family support is essential.
- Experience of working in an area of disadvantage and working with vulnerable children and their families.
- Child centered practice.
- Ideally experience working within a integrated setting.
- Experience using a case management approach to case load.
- Experience in developing and implementing individual care plans.
- Experience dealing with child protection issues and hearing to child protection legislations and Children first guidelines at all times.
- Experience in designing, developing, implementing, and facilitating targeted programmes.
- Experience in report writing and record keeping and proficiency in IT.
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team i.e., teachers, SNA’s, therapist, community and statuary supports.
- Liaising with appropriate statutory agencies.
- Experience in appointment accompaniments and advocacy.
