1 Part Time Lifestart Family Visitor
Position: 20 hours per week
Contract: 1 Year Fixed term contract
Reporting to: Lifestart Manager
Location: Drogheda, East Meath
Salary: €20,675.00
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- To explain, deliver and implement the Lifestart Growing Child programme to parents within the home setting weekly/ fortnightly or monthly depending on need (to carry a caseload agreed with Lifestart Manager) with a primary focus on parents of children from birth to five years of age.
- To gain a working knowledge and understanding of the Growing Child & sessional materials and any suggested activity or equipment.
- To offer one to one parenting and child development support to parents in the Drogheda and East Meath area.
- To organise and facilitate group/centre based activities for parents and children that is needs led (e.g. play based parent and child programmes).
- Appropriately demonstrate the use of supporting resources to explain developmental concepts to parents.
- Demonstrate to parents the importance of play, story, arts and music in learning.
- Keep and maintain accurate records.
- To liaise and work in partnership with relevant agencies at a local level.
- To signpost and link in with other services and supports on an individual basis to assist families.
- To gain and apply a working knowledge of the principles, values and structures of Lifestyle Development Group specifically the Lifestart suite of programmes.
- To adhere to the policies and procedures of the organisation including Child Protection.
- To maintain confidentiality in relation to your work with families.
- To work collaboratively with staff as part of a team.
- To undertake relevant training, as required.
- Other duties may be assigned by the Lifestart Manager from time to time according to the needs of the organisation.
The successful candidate will have:
- A third level qualification relevant to the post.
- At least two years experience in working with parents and children preferably in home based family support.
- A clear understanding of Lifestart, Child Development, Parenting, Family Support and existing referral pathways in Louth/Meath.
- Proven ability to network and work on an interagency basis.
- Understanding of and a commitment to the promotion of equal opportunities and cultural diversity.
- Full driving licence and access to own car.
- Excellent IT, Communication and Report Writing skills.
