The Ballymun Youth Action Project [BYAP] is a community response to drug and alcohol misuse. The services provided through the Ballymun Youth Action Project respond across the continuum of care, ranging from low threshold services to aftercare.

We are currently recruiting for a Support/Advocate Worker to join our Infant Parent Support Project Team. The Infant Parent Support Project is an initiative to meet the needs of children and parents where there are issues related to problem drug and/or alcohol use antenatally and in the infant stages of the child’s life, and where adequate services and support are not being accessed.

We are currently inviting applications for the following position.

Infant Parent Support/Advocate Worker. 

Ref: IPSAW24. 
1 Year Fixed Term Contract. Part Time – 3 Day Week.

We are looking for individuals with enthusiasm, commitment, and initiative. 

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Capacity to engage with individuals and families who are experiencing difficulties with drug or alcohol use.
  • Capacity to work with parents from an infant mental health perspective.
  • Capacity to work with the Infant Parent Support Project Team in the delivery of a range of services that are accessible and responsive, including direct support for parents with childcare needs while attending the service.
  • Capacity to engage with the range of community networks and parenting supports that are available to the parents attending the service.
  • Capacity to undertake client assessment and care planning.
  • Capacity to adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and to the policies and procedures of the Project.

Specific Requirements:

  • Candidates must possess a relevant 3rd Level Qualification – a Minimum Level 7 QQI (including Diploma Level) is required. 
  • An understanding of Infant Mental Health.
  • Candidates must successfully complete the Garda Vetting Process

Additional Desirable requirements:

  • Experience of working within the context of addiction, or demonstration of understanding of Substance Use issues.
  • Qualification to work within childcare setting.
  • Ability to work flexibly, creatively and with empathy.
  • Experience of undertaking assessments and developing Care Plans
  • Experience of working with marginal groups.

The salary is €28,949 per annum, which is based on a three-day week. 
The position is based in the Ballymun Youth Action Project, with some work offsite.
