Location: Finglas, Family Resource Centre, Dublin 11
Contract: Part Time & 3 Year Fixed Term Contract
(Year 1: 15 hours per week. Year 2/3: 9 hours per week)
Salary: €13,870 - €21,439 DOE (This salary is pro-rated for 15 hours)

What’s the role/service?
We are looking for an experienced project worker to join our team in our family resources centre in Finglas, North Dublin.
To work with the Finglas West Community to ascertain the needs of the area and build confidence and the capacity of the community, families and children through the development and support of appropriate programmes and activities.
What will my day to day look like?
In this role you will aim to increase the reach of the Finglas West Family Resource Centre (FWFRC), by engaging and providing supports to children and families who are not currently receiving supports at the FRC. Your responsibilities will include:
- To assess the needs of the Finglas West community, children and the families engaging with the project
- To adapt Evidence Informed approaches to meet the identified need
- To work with children and families living in the Finglas West community in a variety of ways, including providing information and advice, group work and school based programmes. Working in the centre, on an outreach basis and in the community
- To be vigilant for signs of physical, sexual and emotional abuse, neglect and any concerns regarding the welfare of children. To record concerns promptly and accurately. To consult with the Designated Person and take appropriate action in accordance with Barnardos Child Protection policy
- To liaise effectively with families and other statutory, community and voluntary bodies
- To gather information statistics and prepare reports as required, including administration of databases as appropriate to the role
What experience do I need?
- A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience of working with vulnerable children and their families
- Experience of planning, implementing and reviewing programmes with children and/or families
- Good working knowledge of Child Protection Legislation and Guidelines
- Experience of working in the community or a community based programme is essential
- Knowledge and understanding of community development principles and practices
- Experience of evidence informed practices relating to children and families
Do I need a qualification?
Yes, to be considered for this role you will hold a recognised third level practice qualification (minimum Level 7 on the QQI) in one of the following:
- Social Care / Education / Social Work / Youth Work / Early Childhood Care /Education Or related discipline (Nursing, Psychology, Early Years’ Education).
Additional Information
The post-holder is initially assigned to work in the Finglas family resource centre, but may be required in the future to work in other project(s) in the North Dublin area in line with Organisational needs.
A full driving licence and access to the use of a suitably insured car is essential.
