Salary Scale: Aligned to Focus Ireland Scale
Starting Salary: €36,687 - €39,856

The purpose of this role is to work as part of the Aftercare Team to provide a flexible Aftercare and Supported Housing service responding to the needs of young people in the Midwest. This is a Monday to Friday role, mainly covering County Limerick, with some room for flexibility to accommodate hybrid working. You will be part of a supportive team of up to 10 people, making it ideal for a team player who enjoys working with different services at once.

What you will do:

  • To work within the framework of the overall aims and objectives of Focus Ireland and use the model of care devised for the project.
  • To work as part of a team in delivering the service to the young people.
  • To draw up suitable care plans to prepare and support each resident for independent living.
  • To support young people holistically, paying attention to their practical self-care needs, health, budgeting, and domestic skills.
  • To play a part in promoting and building the confidence and self-esteem of young people leaving care.
  • To advocate on behalf of the young person for housing, social welfare, education, training and legal rights.
  • To liaise with and make referrals to relevant outside agencies.
  • To provide individual support and key working to Young People of the project.
  • To assist in the facilitation of group work sessions for Young people of the project.
  • To be vigilant to any Health, Safety and Welfare risks in the workplace and bring any concerns to the attention of your line manager or Health & Safety Representative.
  • To attend Team, Divisional and Agency meetings as required.
  • To maintain accurate case records and statistics.
  • To liaise with and inform the Project Leader, on a regular basis, of issues arising from work with individual cases.
  • To engage in PIE and supervision sessions on a regular basis with the Manager.
  • To participate in relevant training and development courses and in project evaluation.
  • To implement the existing policies and procedures of the project and of Focus Ireland and adhere to the Standards of Customer service.
  • To assist in the implementation of the settlement policies and strategies of Focus Ireland.
  • To work in close liaison with and co-operate with other Focus Ireland projects.
  • In consultation, to undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Project Manager, Section Manager or Divisional Head.

What you will need:

  • Social Care or Equivalent Qualification at degree level.
  • Experience working in a social care setting at least 2 years.
  • Experience of key-working clients or individual case work.
  • Full clean driver’s license and access to own car.
  • Experience of managing challenging behaviour.
  • Good understanding of the issue affecting young people leaving care and in aftercare. (Desirable).
  • Understanding of Child Protection. (Desirable).
  • Experience of inter-agency working. (Desirable).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. (Desirable).
