Job Title: Youth Worker - Rua

Duration: initial 12-month contract

Hours of Work: 35 hrs a week with occasional weekend and evening work required

Location: Based in Dublin 12 and or Dublin 8

Salary: Scale starting at €36,960 (dependant on qualifications and experience).

Reports to: Rua Team Leader

Overview of the Role

Solas Project, as part of its wider justice programme, has developed Rua, targeting young people (15+) involved in serious levels of offending (harder to reach). These young people, who will be identified by the Gardai, are deemed unsuitable for existing Diversion Programmes or have not successfully engaged with existing programmes. We are looking for a staff member who is interested in developing innovative and creative ways of engaging and motivating the target group. We recognise this work will be challenging and at times difficult, as it involved dealing with challenging and often traumatic situations, and are looking for staff who will be committed, energetic and with the skills to develop and manage a relationship with the target group.

Team Leader - Rua Youth Justice Programme

Job Title: Team Leader – Rua Dublin 8

Duration: initial 12-month contract

Hours of Work: 35 hrs a week with occasional weekend and evening work required

Report to: Justice Programmes Manager

Location: Based in Dublin 8 area primarily.

Salary: Scale starting at €45,045 (dependant on qualifications and experience).

We are achieving this through a range of innovative and holistic interventions from childhood, through adolescence and into early adulthood. We invite appropriately qualified individuals to apply who are committed to the healthy development of young people in Ireland, have a creative approach to working with our target group, a high level of flexibility and are enthusiastic about working within a challenging and innovative environment.

Background to the Role

Solas Project, as part of its wider justice programme, has developed Rua, targeting young people (15+) involved in serious levels of offending (harder to reach). These young people, who will be identified by the Gardai, are deemed unsuitable for existing Diversion Programmes or have not successfully engaged with existing programmes. We are looking for a team leader who is interested in developing innovative and creative ways of engaging and motivating the target group and leading the team of youth workers. We recognise this work will be challenging and at times difficult, as it involved dealing with challenging and often traumatic situations, and are looking for staff who will be committed, energetic and with the skills to develop and manage a relationship with the target group.The staff team currently consists of a team leader position and 3 youth work staff. The Rua Dublin 8 team work as part of the wider Solas Project justice team and the team leader will report to the Justice Programmes Manager.
