Cook / Housekeeper – Realt Beag Child and Family Centre

The Cook/Housekeeper will work within Realt Beag as part of the Child and Family Centre staff team.

About our service:

At Realt Beag we provide a quality childcare service to the Ballyfermot community. We work alongside Parents/Guardians to ensure their children are provided with the care and attention they need including speech therapy, play therapy and psychology. These are provided by health care professionals who come in to work with the children as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the provision of well balanced, and nutritious meals within Realt Beag.
  • Cook and provide food and meals for Realt Beag babies and children taking into consideration individual diets and requirements.
  • Consult with parents and children regarding dietary requirements.
  • Maintain adequate food supplies and appropriate storage of food supplies.
  • Ordering of all food.
  • Maintain monthly records.
  • Ensure that the kitchen and surrounding areas, (Lobby area etc.) is kept clean and tidy and that all appropriate measures are taken to ensure the highest standards of hygiene are maintained.
  • Ensuring toilets, general areas are kept clean and maintained etc.

The successful candidate must have:

  • A recognised catering qualification.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (HACCAP).
  • Knowledge of food preparation for special dietary needs.
  • The ability to carry out their duties independently.
  • Previous experience of working in a similar post/environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and knowledge of Health and Safety Codes of Practice.
  • Teamworking skills.

Hours: 30 per week

Hourly rate of pay: €13 per hour

Please note that successful candidates will be required to receive Garda Clearance. All workers must have the ability to work as part of a team and carry out the policies aims and objectives of Ballyfermot STAR
