Roles & Responsibilities

  • Promoting the rights and responsibilities of each young person within the service
  • Participating in the development and implementation of Care and Placement Plans
  • Promoting physical, emotional, social, educational, and religious welfare of each young person
  • Liaising with family members and other professionals in relation to the care of young persons
  • Adhering to policies and procedures
  • Documentation and report writing
  • Attending regular supervision with the Social Care Leader / Manager

Qualifications:

A degree level 7+ on the National Framework of Qualifications in one of the following disciplines:

  • Social care or Applied Social Studies
  • Youth and Community
  • BA(Hons) Youth and Community Development
  • BA (Hons) Psychology
  • Addiction Studies
  • BA (Hons) counselling and Addiction Studies
  • Disability Diploma (Primary Degree)
  • Social Science

Candidates must have:

  • A commitment to a minimum of 2 shifts per week, ideally 3
  • Client focus, compassion and empathy are essential to the role
  • Team work as well as flexibility and the ability to work off one’s own initiative

  • TCI (therapeutic crisis intervention)
  • Crisis Management Training
  • First Aid
  • Crannog Nua model of care
  • Available shift patterns: days (8am – 9pm, 10am – 11pm) & nights (8:30pm – 8:30am)
  • Full lines available or option to work individual shifts (minimum commitment of 2 shifts per week)
  • MCMA Special Care salary scale (post grad exp.):
  • 1 year exp as SCW €18.50 ph
  • 2 yearexp as SCW €19.25 ph
  • 3 yearexp as SCW €20.00 ph
  • 4 yearexp as SCW €20.75 ph
  • 5 yearexp as SCW €21.50 ph
