Specific Responsibilities:

The allocation can be broken down as: 10 hours / week / County Monaghan & 15 hours/ week / County Cavan

Job Details:

  • To work as part of the overall YWICM team to deliver an effective and innovative youth service for Cavan Monaghan.
  • To deliver the outcomes in the County Specific Stakeholder Engagement Plans.
  • To establish the Seldom Heard Voices Subcommittee’s for each County to in line with Stakeholder Engagement Plan.
  • To deliver a minimum of 12 and maximum of 16 Comhairle na nÓg meetings per county in each 12 year period
  • To actively seek out funding opportunities to support and enhance the delivery of Comhairle na nÓg.
  • To deliver 2x Annual General Meetings (1 per county).
  • To support the development of a high quality resource in line with the key topics chosen.
  • To comply with all funding requirements as laid out by the Local Authority & Funder.
  • To support the work of the Comhairle na nÓg steering committees.
  • To model “best practice” for volunteers within the service.
  • To act at all times within organizational policy and practice guidelines and to take immediate appropriate action when necessary.
  • To ensure that accurate and efficient records are maintained and reports completed for management, board and funders when requested.
  • To support Comhairle na nÓg and Youth Work Ireland Monaghan in its development and growth.
  • To engage in any other duties requested by the Team Leader or Regional Director. This includes involvement in the organisations campaigning and lobbying, training and research, supporting other areas of work and fundraising initiatives.
  • To attend team meetings and other meetings at the request of the Team Leader or Regional Director.
  • To represent Youth Work Ireland Cavan Monaghan and Comhairle na nÓg on committees relevant to the area of work as directed by the team leader.
  • To be a positive contributor to the overall Youth Service Team in Monaghan and Cavan.

Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Essential Candidates must hold a full driving licence as travelling between centres will be essential to the role.
  • Candidates should possess a 3rd level graduate qualification in Youth Work or a related field.
  • Candidates should have excellent IT Skills.
  • Desirable NSETS endorsed 3rd Level Qualification.

EXPERIENCE

  • Essential Candidates should have a minimum of 3 year’s experience of working with young people either in a paid or voluntary capacity.
  • Desirable: Experience of using Social Media and Online platforms.
  • Experience of seeking information and/or advocating on behalf of young people.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Essential: Candidates must be able to demonstrate a theoretical and practical knowledge of youth work, group work, project development and reporting requirements within the sector.
  • Desirable: Candidate should be passionate about youth advocacy, inclusion and participation. Candidates should have experience of carrying out developmental participation work with young people.

  • Candidates must cooperate with all housekeeping elements in all areas of work.
