Community Youth Worker – 39hrs P/W

1-Year Fixed Term Contract

The Cavan Centre provides a residential resource to promote Youth & Community Work based on a Community Development process through the medium of Education, Experiential Learning and Personal Development, primarily for disadvantaged and marginalised groups from the North Inner City of Dublin.

Professional Qualification and Experience (E=Essential D=Desirable)

• An NSETS recognised professionally endorsed qualification in Youth Work or Youth and Community Work or an equivalent professional Degree Level Qualification in the Education / Social Studies Field. (E)
• Qualifications in Outdoor Education to national governing body standards, in at least two of the following sports: Kayaking, High ropes, Rock-climbing, Paddle boards, & Archery. (E)
• Ability to relate to young people and engage the target group (E)
• Relevant paid or voluntary experience of working with young people (E)
• A full Drivers Licence (E)
• Skills and experience in related areas such as, Hillwalking, Environmental Education, Arts & Crafts, Team Challenges etc. (D)
• Experience and understanding of residential work and of working with young people facing adversity (D)
• A D1 or ED1 minibus licence (D)
