South Tipperary WorkAbility Project: Job Coach
Full-time Fixed Term Contract - 2028
Knockanrawley Resource Centre in partnership with Scoil Chormaic in Cashel, the Irish Wheelchair Association and the Moorehaven Centre in Tipperary Town and RehabCare in Clonmel, was awarded funding to implement the Ability Programme in South Tipperary. The project aims to provide young people with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities; aged from 16 years old and support with holistic, person-centred supports to develop the confidence and independence required to participate in education, training, and employment.
Workability Job Coach
Fixed Term Contract - 2028 Full-Time (35 hours per week)
About the Workability Programme: The Workability Programme supports young people with disabilities in achieving their personal, educational, and employment goals through a person-centred approach. The programme aims to build confidence, develop skills, and create pathways to meaningful employment opportunities.
Job Description Summary:
As a Workability Job Coach, you will:
- Build trusting relationships with programme participants through one-to-one mentorship.
- Provide ongoing coaching, personal development, and pre-employment supports.
- Support the programme coordinator in developing and implementing a work placement initiative.
- Engage with and support employers in facilitating inclusive workplace opportunities.
Requirements:
- A relevant nationally recognised qualification (NFQ Level 6/7 minimum).
- At least two years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience working within the disability sector.
- A strong commitment to inclusion, diversity, and empowerment.
- The ability to inspire and motivate young people towards their career and personal development goals.
Person Specification
- Proven experience as job coach;
- Experience in working with people with disabilities.
- Understanding of employment in the context of disability
- Experience in developing Personal Progression Plans /Employment Plans
- Experience conducting vocational assessments or educational profiling of people with a disability desirable;
- Proficient in MS Office and knowledge of CRM systems desirable.
- Knowledge of People-centred, Community Development Principles and Practice.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving ability
- Respect for diversity
- Ability to inspire and motivate
Qualification
- A relevant nationally recognised qualification (preferably NFQ Level 7 or above);
- Coaching or Career Counselling qualification or equivalent would be a distinct advantage;
- Train the Trainer L6/Facilitation Skills desirable;
- A full driving licence and use of own car.
Gross Annual Salary
€35,721 (+ 10% Pension & Travel Expenses)
