The Irish Council of Churches seeks to recruit an exceptional individual for the next phase in its work of developing opportunities for the churches in Ireland to work together to provide a Christian voice in society.
Salary Scale: £41,834 – £46,918 (Office is in Belfast but role covers both jurisdictions)
Overall Responsibilities
The General Secretary is the Senior Executive Officer of the Irish Council of Churches and also serves as Joint Secretary of the Irish Inter–Church Committee and the Irish Inter–Church Meeting.
You will have
- A third–level qualification or 5 years relevant experience at an appropriate level
- Good knowledge of how churches relate in a national setting
- An understanding of contemporary theological issues
- Experience in strategic planning, managing staff and servicing committees
- Evidence of personal Christian faith in practice and expression, normally demonstrated by active membership of a Christian congregation (The essential nature of this post requires that the successful candidate be a Christian as provided for under excepted occupations in the Fair Employment Treatment (NI) Order 1998)
