The Role 

We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and qualified Part-Time Youth Counsellor / Psychotherapist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work directly with young people to support their emotional and personal development. This includes delivering one-on-one counselling sessions, facilitating group discussions, and engaging in outdoor education activities that promote teamwork, resilience, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counselling and emotional support to young people.
  • Facilitate group workshops and discussions on topics relevant to young people’s mental health and personal development.
  • Assist in planning and delivering of nature-based outdoor education activities.
  • Build positive relationships with young people, fostering trust and a sense of belonging.
  • Collaborate with other youth workers and staff to ensure a holistic approach to youth development.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of counselling sessions in line with professional standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A recognized qualification in counselling, psychology, or a related field (minimum diploma level) - Qualified and accredited with the I.A.C.P.
  • Experience working with young people in a counselling or youth work setting.
  • Knowledge and interest in outdoor education and its application in youth development.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people’s growth and well-being.
  • Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities faced by young people in the Ballyfermot community is an advantage.

Additional Requirements

  • Garda Vetting clearance is mandatory.
  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as required.
  • First Aid certification (desirable but not essential).
