Blue Box Creative Arts Therapy Centre is a registered charity based in Limerick, we aim to support children and young people who are experiencing emotional, behavioural, or psychological challenges to realise their full potential through Play or Creative Art Therapies. We apply a trauma informed nondirective approach to support the children and families we engage.

A Blue Box therapist will be expected to ensure the highest standards of service delivery, provide support and information sharing to parents, report back to commissioners and be flexible in their approach to all aspects of the role.

The successful candidate will support clients in a versatile and effective therapeutic approach that supports a wide range of children on a 1:1 or group basis. They will be responsible for intake management, recording, reporting, and engaging with all stake holders. The successful candidate will report to the Clinical Manager.

Contract Fixed term 12 months subject to funding.
Salary €38,000
Location Blue Box, Roxboro, Limerick
Hours 40 hrs inclusive of breaks. Mon – Thurs 11am to 7pm, Friday 9am to 5pm (flexibility required)
Delivery 20 hours of 1:1 therapy Mon-Thurs, administration duties Friday (flexibility required)

Person Specification

  • Have experience and an understanding of children with mental health needs
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Work in a self-directed manner within their own modality
  • Have an understanding and working knowledge of child safeguarding and provide examples of this at interview stage
  • Have an understanding and working knowledge of best practice and legislation and its implications for clinical practice

Essential Criteria

  • Master's Degree in CAT Psychotherapy or postgraduate diploma or master's degree in Play therapy.
  • 250+ hours of provision of 1:1 therapy with children/youth
  • Full membership of IACAT / IAPTP/PTI or another relevant Accreditation Body

Desirable Criteria

  • 1+ years post qualification experience working with vulnerable children
  • Completed post qualification training/experience in trauma-informed practice
  • Knowledge of other modalities

Blue Box may form a panel for 12 months for future similar positions which are permanent/fixed term, full-time/part-time
