Job Purpose:

This is an exciting role to support people who use our services to improve their wellbeing through exercise, nutrition and health promotion.

You will work as part of the Client Development team. This team are an integral part of Dublin Simon Community and work with our clients around training, education, personal development and employability.

You will work closely with other services in Dublin Simon Community including our emergency, housing and regional services as well as our fundraising and communications team.

Working hours: Monday to Friday from 9am to 5.30pm
Location: Office in Chester Dublin 7, Phibsboroug, but there is a requirement to do groups in our other services and external venues.
Salary: €35.000 per year moving to €35.820 after 6 months probation

Responsibilities

  • Develop engaging and informative content for the quarterly newsletter, including articles, success stories, and updates on organizational services.
  • Collaborate with clients and service departments to collect artwork and visual content
  • Ensure all newsletter content is accurately edited, proofread, and formatted according to organizational standards.
  • Guide clients through the college application process, including completing forms, writing personal statements and meeting deadlines.
  • Provide resources and strategies for effective study habits, time management, and exam preparation to ensure client academic success.
  • Encourage clients to explore various educational pathways and programs that align with their career goals and interests.
  • Liaising with the manager and supervisor and over seeing Dublin Simon Community educational grants offered to clients.
  • Conduct workshops and provide individual support to help clients create professional CVs and compelling cover letters tailored to job applications and offer mock interviews.
  • Assist clients in identifying career goals, exploring job opportunities, and developing career plans.
  • Coordinate and manage a client volunteer program to provide hands-on experience, skill development, and community engagement opportunities.
  • Create and facilitate literacy programs based on client assessments, focusing on improving reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
  • Actively engage in local education committees, attending meetings, contributing to discussions, and representing the organization's interests.
  • Liaise with Supervisor to recruit Part Time Volunteers and provide support to both full-time and part-time volunteers, ensuring they have the necessary resources, training, and guidance to effectively contribute to the organization.
  • Support the supervisor in organizing the "Scrappy but Happy" event, including planning, logistics, and execution to ensure a successful and engaging experience for all attendees.
  • Support the team in developing, promoting, and facilitating a range of programs focused on health, well-being, and art to enhance the holistic development of client
  • Work closely with manager to develop scorecards and strategies for the service.
  • Coordinate the QQI level 2 & 3 in education and Meaningful activities.
  • Work in conjunction/partnership with fundraising on the promotion and media around the educational and employability pathways.
  • Work closely with the Supervisor/team to design and develop proposal for program ideas for fundraising.
  • Complete reports as required for Client Development manager.
  • Maintain and update filing systems and databases.
  • To engage with and build a professional trusting relationship with clients across Dublin Simon Community treating them with dignity and respect in order to work within the values of Dublin Simon Community.
  • To develop and implement an action plan that will promote and embed a culture of a education and employability guidance throughout the organisation for those who use our services.
  • To perform as a full team member supporting colleagues, participating in effective handovers and communicating promptly in order to ensure effective working relationships.
  • To attend internal/ external meetings such as team meetings, working groups and planning days as required by the various teams within the organisation.
  • Ensure clients are consulted and involved in the operation of the project as far as possible through the client groups i.e. client feedback, residents’ meetings.
  • Work with the management to measure the impact the activities have on the life of the individual clients and work with clients in a tangible way to achieve positive outcomes.

About You:

  • A recognised third level qualification to at least degree level in: Community Development, Education, Adult Education, Psychology, Social Care, Project Management, Personal Development programmes or a related discipline.
  • Experience of working with disadvantaged groups, project development, stakeholder relationships and group dynamics.
  • Knowledge of the Client Development Service and its projects and why people become homeless and the needs they have.
  • Experience of working with disadvantaged groups.
  • Good active listening, assessment, engagement and feedback skills
  • Work in the best interests of clients
  • Promote clients’ choice, development, independence, education & employability pathways.
