Wicklow Travellers Group is a community development organisation of Travellers and settled people working together to promote human rights for Travellers and create a society in which we are different, equal, confident and valued. Our work is based on principles of adult education, community work, youth work and positive physical and mental health promotion. We seek to achieve awareness, recognition and celebration of the unique identity and culture of Travellers and to empower Travellers in Wicklow to enhance their quality of life.

Traveller Family Link Worker

Full-time or Part-time option

Overall Purpose of the post:

The Traveller Family Link Worker will build relationships and work in conjunction with Wicklow Travellers Group, the local Traveller community, early years providers and any other relevant services in order to improve the overall outcomes for Traveller children.

The successful candidate will have:

• A relevant qualification and/or experience paid or voluntary, in supporting the Traveller Community.
• A good knowledge of family support and community development.
• An understanding of how to support Traveller Communities in culturally appropriate ways.
• A general knowledge of computers and communication technology.
• Experience working as part of a team.
• Good communication and leadership skills.
• An ability to promote an understanding of Traveller Parenting experience within the partner agencies
