Community Youth Worker (Sessional) - ChillOUT Sunday
Role Summary:
As part of Manor Street Youth and Community Centre, ChillOUT Sunday works with LGBTQ+ young people aged 14 – 17 years and their allies in Waterford City and surrounding areas by developing a community based youth work response to their needs and interests and the issues relevant to them, thereby improving their quality of life. WSTCYS believes in the potential of young people and their contribution and active participation is valued. ChillOUT benefits from working as part of our Integrated Service Model which is young person centred, strengths based and needs led. The successful candidate will join a dedicated leader team of staff and volunteers to facilitate a range of youth work programmes with young people in our safe and welcoming Youth Centre on Sunday afternoons. Working hours; 7 hours per week. 3 Sundays on; every 4th Sunday off.
Suitable Candidates should:
- Have a Level 7 or higher qualification in Youth & Community Work or its equivalent
- Have at least 1 year’s (ideally 2 years’) professional experience of working directly with young people
- Demonstrate flexibility, motivation and initiative
- Have excellent interpersonal, organisational, communication and facilitation skills
- Be able to engage young people in developmental group work
- Be committed to working in partnership with young people, local adults and allied professionals
- Be a strong team player & Be able to build, lead and develop a volunteer team
- Be competent in record keeping and contribute to report-writing
- Hold a Full Clean Driver’s Licence
