Young Parent Support Programme (YPSP) Family Support Worker
(Onsite Kilkenny based)
St Catherine’s Community Services Centre is a registered charity and community and voluntary agency based in Carlow Town. We now wish to recruit a Kilkenny based full-time YPSP Family Support Worker. YPSP, formerly the Teen Parent Support programme supports young parents up to 24 years old and their child in their first 1000 days in Carlow and Kilkenny.
The YPSP Family Support Worker will engage and work with young parents and their children to offer appropriate supports, programmes and activities to meet their needs.
Location: Onsite in Kilkenny city with occasional travel to Carlow
Hours of Work: Full-time, 35 hours per week
Contract Duration: Permanent subject to continued programme funding
Reporting to: YPSP Manager
Role Criteria
The successful candidate will possess:
- A recognised third-level qualification in Applied Social Studies/Social Care, Psychology, Social Work or another relevant qualification
- A minimum of 2 years paid experience working with children and families in a community based setting
- Experience in outreaching to and engaging with families
- Experience in delivering evidence based/informed family support programmes
- Experience in supporting families from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Understanding of a community development approach to family support
- Excellent communication, IT and facilitation skills
