We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time LGBTI+ Outreach Worker to join our dynamic team. This role will involve collaboration with other team members in GOSHH to achieve the best possible outcomes for those accessing and benefitting from our services.

Job Description
The successful candidate will work alongside the Community Development Worker across Limerick, Clare and Tipperary to support people in the LGBTI+ community. Working with the team in GOSHH, the candidate will strive to empower clients to overcome the invisible barriers in rural and isolated areas. The person will aim to promote social inclusion within the Midwest and act as an advocate for the voices of LGBTI+ people at a community/ organisational level.
Responsibilities and Role
- In conjunction with the Community Development Worker and the team at GOSHH, identify needs within target groups and/or organisations to improve inclusiveness for people of diverse gender and/or orientation.
- Respond to the needs of the community by providing individual support for those who identify as LGBTI+, as well as internal referrals to other GOSHH services.
- Adopt a broad interpretation of support to offer one to one sessions, facilitate social groups and implement other support mechanisms available within GOSHH and the broader community
- To facilitate social groups and networking events for people who are part of the LGBTI+ community and promote social inclusion
- To liaise with the counselling service to refer, where necessary to counselling
- To increase visibility of the role and service through networking with agencies/statutory bodies and similar organisations within the wider sector
- To work in conjunction with other departments in GOSHH to provide talks/training to community groups/ schools/ other organisations as required on Gender and Orientation
- To sit on working groups and sub-groups within the organisation where directed and appropriate
- Collaborate with management and other team members in relation to supports, training and strategic objectives of the organisation
- To represent the organisation, where appropriate at events and on committees
- To record statistical data/ KPI’s, contribute to annual reports and other working papers and submissions where required
- To assist in preparation of promotional material, social media posts, awareness and help in planning fundraising events when required
The successful candidate will have:
- A relevant professional qualification
- 12 months experience or equivalent of working in similar role
- Awareness of LGBTI+ issues and an inclusive approach
- Teamwork experience and skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Report writing and IT skills, including social media literacy
- Proven ability of maintaining confidentiality
- An ability to reflect on personal development and willingness to upskill
- Warm, welcoming and non-judgemental attitude
- Full driving licence and use of car
Salary: € 34,907.60
Contract: Full-time 35 hours per week, a 6 month probationary period.
Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Flexibility will be required in relation to events outside of normal working hours for which post holder will be entitled to time off in lieu
Holidays: 25 days a year
