Cavan Traveller Movement seek to appoint a
Traveller Education Development Worker
on a fixed term three-year contract
The Traveller Education Development Worker will work with the Cavan Traveller Movement to engage directly with Traveller children, their parents, and the relevant schools. Additionally, the role will involve coordinating with relevant service providers to address and highlight the educational challenges facing the community. The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a team and possess the following qualifications:
Qualification in Youth and Community work /Community education or Related Discipline
- Two years’ experience of delivering health related activities
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent computer skills- Word, Excel and Email
- Ability to identify needs and arrange activities accordingly
- Experience of working one to one with clients
- Excellent understanding of Traveller education and the issues that are affecting traveller in Irish society
- Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Experience in facilitating group activities.
- A full clean driving licence and own transport to be used at work is essential
- Experience of working with the Traveller community would be advantage
- A commitment to work from an anti-racist and equality work perspective
Particulars Of the Post:
This position is funded by Cavan County Council through the PEACEPLUS project, and managed my Cavan Traveller Movement It is a three-year fixed-term contract to support Traveller Education in Cavan by developing programs and activities with the Traveller community and relevant agencies. A key goal will be engaging Traveller families. This role is 35 hours per week at €40,000 per annum.
