Location: Leinster / Hybrid Role / Barnarrdos Head Office, Christchurch Square
Contract: Part-Time (22.5 hours) & Fixed Term contract to 31st December 2025
- Role will continue subject to funding
Salary: €17,383 - €23,267 DOE (This is the pro-rated salary for 22.5 hours)

What’s the role and service?
We are looking for an experienced Community Support Worker to join our new Barnardos Adult Boarded Out Practical Supports Service.
The Adult Boarded Out Service has a national remit and the new Community Support Worker will join a therapeutic team based across the four locations.
What will my day to day look like?
In this role, you will provide therapeutic and practical supports in the community to adults who have had experience of being boarded out as children in Ireland. You will be responsible for the following:
- Assessing the needs of adults engaging with the project.
- Traveling to clients homes and meet them within their own communities.
- Prioritising needs and devising an intervention plan in consultation with the Line Manager.
- Networking with other agencies in consultation with service users to ensure an integrated approach to meeting the client’s needs.
- Reviewing progress on an ongoing basis with the Line Manager and adapt intervention plan accordingly.
- Liaising effectively with other statutory, community and voluntary bodies and to attend and contribute to meetings as required.
What experience do I need?
Essential:
- 6-12 months relevant experience working in a community setting with vulnerable adults
Desirable:
- Specific experience in working in the field of adults impacted by adoption and foster care is highly desirable.
- Experience in providing therapeutic support to vulnerable adults
Do I need a qualification?
- A minimum of a FETAC Level 5 in a social care related discipline is desirable.
- Candidates with significant experience specific to the post without a relevant qualification will also be considered.
- Good computer skills are essential.
Full driving licence and access to the use of a suitably insured car essential.
