Galway Rape Crisis Centre was established in 1984 and is now the country’s second largest Rape Crisis Centre. GRCC is dedicated to providing a professional, caring and confidential counselling and support service for those in our community affected by sexual abuse and sexual violence. We also work towards ending cultural and societal tolerance of sexual violence through advocacy, prevention and education programmes. G.R.C.C. provides client-centred therapy to adults and young people from 14 years onwards of all genders and gender identities. We offer support to individuals who have experienced any form of sexual violence, including child sexual abuse.
G.R.C.C. is seeking to hire 2 psychotherapists to join our clinical department to provide psychotherapy to adult victims of sexual violence.
Role 1: 3 full days per week across Monday to Friday
Role 2: 3 full days per week across Monday to Saturday.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements
- Provide therapy sessions to adult victims of sexual violence.
- Engage in support sessions with victims’ loved ones.
- Provide initial appointments to individuals seeking to engage in therapy at GRCC.
- Consult with clinical team in assessing and engaging referrals.
- Liaise with relevant professionals to support clients where appropriate.
- Attend monthly individual and group case management and staff meetings onsite.
- Engage in external supervision.
- Liaise with multi-disciplinary team in contributing to community development, education and prevention programmes.
- Maintaining appropriate records in line with G.R.C.C.’s policies and procedures.
Professional Requirements
- Degree and/ or masters in psychotherapy.
- Full accreditation with IACP, IAHIP or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working therapeutically with sexual violence and/or complex trauma.
- Have a minimum of three years post qualification experience in clinical practice.
- Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Required Competencies and Skills
- In-depth understanding of impact of sexual violence on young people and families.
- Trauma-informed and client-centred therapeutic approach.
- In-depth knowledge of Child Protection, Children’s First Guidelines.
- Working knowledge of the criminal justice system as it relates to sexual violence.
- Capacity to work as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team.
- Empathic, and sensitive approach to colleagues and clients.
- Established system of self-care and professional and personal resilience.
- Garda Vetting required.
