OASIS HOUSE WOMEN’S REFUGE AND SERVICES

Oasis House Women’s Refuge is a long-established domestic abuse service based in Waterford City and works throughout the city and county. Oasis provides a service sensitive to the needs of women and women with their children experiencing domestic violence. Oasis House provides a number of services, including crisis accommodation, 24/7 Helpline, Drop-in service, Child, Youth & Family Support service, Outreach, Court accompaniment, as well as programmes for women and children.

Vacancy - Child, Youth and Family - Social Care Worker

Oasis House is currently recruiting for dedicated Social Care Worker- Child, Youth and Family to join our team and play a key-role in providing and developing support, programmes and services for children, young people, and mothers in the refuge, as well as throughout our community services.

  • Job title: Social Care Worker – Child, Youth and Family
  • Location: Oasis Housing Association CLG
  • Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Reporting to: Senior Refuge Worker/Assistant Manager

Minimum Educational Requirements

Minimum a level 7 degree in Applied Social Studies in Social Care or other relevant qualification. The appointee must hold a recognised qualification and register if applicable as a Social Care Worker according to CORU registration requirements November 2025.

Knowledge and Skills

  • A clear understanding of the issue of Domestic Abuse and the complex impact of domestic abuse on children.
  • Ability to treat all individuals availing of our service with respect and dignity, working at all times to the values and principles of the organisation.
  • To contribute in a respectful and positive way to each child’s wellbeing and development. To be aware of the authentic needs of each child being supported.
  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality, discretion and the non-judgemental nature of our work.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to work effectively with in a team.
  • Computer skills including word, outlook and internet. Knowledge of CRM systems would be beneficial.
  • Flexibility with regard to working hours.
  • Experience of working or volunteering in a Social Care Setting.
  • A full driving licence is desirable.
